Can you feel the sun? Here in Colorado, the sun is rising earlier and staying up later. With longer days, we are experiencing warmer weather. As we move into Memorial Weekend, pools will open and, soon enough, we will be enjoying more time in the sun.
Whether you are by the pool, going for a bike ride, playing a round of golf, or having a picnic, I recommend packing a Summer Essentials Bag now to house all of your necessities. Choose a small bag that can be tossed into your pool tote, golf bag, or the backseat of the car. No matter where summer takes you, you will always be prepared for days out in the sun.

Sunscreen for the Body
For long days in the sun, remember to apply sunscreen before you head outside. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your body and hands. This includes your neck, ears, and behind your ears. Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF in comes in a 6.7 ounce size that is perfect for your small bag.
Sunscreen for the Face
Since the skin on your face is more delicate than the skin on your body, use an SPF that is made for your face. Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for face has an SPF of 25 blends easily on all skin tones. It won’t leave a white film on your face and is friendly to the coral reefs. The 1.7 ounce size is perfect for your small bag.
Remember, to re-apply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.
My favorite tinted moisturizer is Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. It offers sheer coverage, evens out skin tones and protects against the damaging rays of sunshine. With vitamin C to brighten the skin, you will have a healthy summer glow without the harmful effects of sun damage.
Time outdoors can get sweaty, so I always keep a fresh stick of deodorant in my summer essentials bag. The Clean Deo by BeautyCounter uses non GMO baking soda and cornstarch to absorb sweat and effectively fight body odor. It comes in Fresh Coconut, Soft Lavender, or Clean Rose. The best part is that the container is refillable. Keep one at home and one in your Summer Essentials Bag.
While hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of germs, a faucet, soap and water may not be available everywhere you go this summer. Keep a ziplock bag of wet wipes in your bag to clean your hands and face. I don’t recommend keeping the full bag of wipes in your bag. For one thing, it will dry out and the wipes won’t work as well. For another, the big bag is heavy and takes up too much space. Re-use one Ziploc bag and keep it stocked with five to six wipes at a time. My favorite wipes are the One-Step Makeup Remover Wipes. They trap dirt, bacteria and cleanse the skin.
Fill a small bottle with the Hand Savior Radiance Boosting Serum and Hand Sanitizer. Hand Savior is the perfect follow up to your hand wipes, offering a brightening boost as it sanitizes with a formula that meets CDC guidelines. Clinically tested to kill 99.99% of bacteria, it leaves hands clean, soft, smooth with gentle notes of mandarin and bergamot.
Even on no-make-up days, a pop of lip color will brighten your face. Try Beyond Gloss to condition the lips and add a bit of shine. Using responsibly sourced Vanilla and Jojoba Oil, this gloss offers a color boost as it conditions your lips.
Don’t want to fuss with color? Want to share your lip treatment with the kids? Try Lip Conditioner in Calendula. Blended with avocado oil, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, and jojoba oil, it soothes and softens chapped lips. Calendula and chamomile oils offer protection and calm the skin. Everyone in the family will happily use this lip treatment.
